Desperately needs to be re-titled Days that Changed the Western World, this book is more like a dictionary of significant events that lead to the rise of Europe and North America. The dictionary-like style becomes dry, vague and tedious.
Lets face it, dictionaries are designed to be consulted one entry at a time, not read cover to cover like this book presumably is/5(21). I found `Days That Changed The World' to be an informative, if a little dry, look at world history and key events that have shaped the path the world has taken.
Each section is introduced with a front page and then usually three pages of text. The first paragraph describes the event and how it effected history and then the rest of the essay /5(11). I think that Ten Days That Shook the World is the ideal book to read on the Russian Revolution- as it is written from inside/around that event- not from the safety of the academic historian's perspective- such as in A People's Tragedy.
